Clement’s Rangers break 53-year unwanted record at Ibrox

After Rangers’ abysmal night v Lyon, a small record was very much broken by Philippe Clement, and with the Belgian’s suicidal tactics, it’s really not that surprising at all.

Rangers were humbled 1-4 by the French giants in a result which will either kick-start their season in Ligue 1 or demonstrate how poor Rangers are, but it was a historic record achieved by Clement which shows how far Rangers are sinking under this manager.

Rangers had NEVER conceded four goals at home in Ibrox in all our years of competing in the UEFA Cup/Europa League, having only ever lost a number like that on our travels.

Clement took Rangers to new depths of rotten by securing a very, very unwanted record, and Olympique Lyonnais became the first side to score four goals in this competition in Govan.

It really sums up how much poorer Rangers are getting under this manager, how unsuited he is to managing Rangers full stop, and how third place in the league is probably about right.

Sure, we got a great win in Sweden, but Ibrox Noise did warn against it being likely meaningless given we’d probably stumble v Hibs. Thankfully we didn’t, but we nearly did, and then most certainly did v Sage’s side.

And now Clement is not only the first Rangers manager in history to fail to win any of his opening five Old Firm matches, he’s also the first one to concede four goals at Ibrox in the Europa League/UEFA Cup.

But we’re sure the Happy Clappers will respond with ‘sack the board’, ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’, ‘look what he inherited’ and every other pathetic excuse under the sun to justify a truly pitiful manager who doesn’t know what he’s doing either domestically or in Europe.

And as long as they accept or justify being five points behind Aberdeen, the wheels on this bus will just keep going round and round.
