One of the names that AC Milan were linked with during the summer was Manu Kone, but now domestic rivals Roma are enjoying his exploits.
Calciomercato.com write how Kone’s excellent eprformance against Italy has turned the spotlight on the French midfielder who played as a playmaker and did it very well. Claudio Ranieri has just taken over from Ivan Juric as Roma boss, but the signing belongs to somebody else.
It was Daniele De Rossi who strongly wanted him in the capital, in fact. The then-Roma coach did not think Enzo Le Fee was enough to complete the midfield as he wanted an upgrade on Bove, so the directors acted.
Milan were in for Kone too, but while the Giallorossi were able to offload Bove to Fiorentina, the Rossoneri were unable to sell Ismael Bennacer. Thus, Roma managed to seal a loan with obligation to buy deal for €18m.
The Frenchman is getting regular minutes for the French national team and yesterday he impressed at San Siro, which could have been his home. He registered 94% on completed passes (48 out of 51) , 7 duels won out of 12 and zero times dribbled past.
Koné offers quality and dynamism in the middle of the field and runs more than anyone else. In France there are already some who compare him to N’Golo Kanté, a midfielder who exploded with Ranieri at Leicester. Milan, meanwhile, are heading back to the market to fix their issues.
