AC Milan will take on Genoa on Monday night, and it will provide the chance for a first-hand look at summer target Morten Frendrup.
Calciomercato.com report that the game at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris will be a match devoid of any significance related to the standings in the league, given the hosts have achieved survival comfortably and the visitors are rooted in ninth place with only the Coppa Italia to play for.
One of the few to have additional motivation is Morten Frendrup, who has been in the sights of Geoffrey Moncada for months.Youssouf Fofana has never had a real deputy this season which probably led to a drop in performance levels, so the gap must be filled.
Moncada is studying the possibility of signing Frendrup, one of the best midfielders in Serie A this season. The evaluations are above all on whether he can adapt to Milan’s system and style, and on the asking price: Genoa will not sell for less than €20m.
The Danish international will almost certainly say farewell to Genoa before 2025-26. Brentford have been working on him for months and at the moment they are the team in pole position to land him, especially with the presence of Thomas Frank and many of Frendrup’s compatriots.
However, the player would prefer to join Milan, who will now have to decide whether to accelerate or not. In this sense, Monday night’s match at the Marassi seems like the classic final audition.
