Arsenal feared Bukayo Saka’s hamstring had become detached from the bone when he was injured against Crystal Palace on Saturday, according to the Daily Mail.

While the medical team of Premier League clubs would generally wait until the following day an injury is suffered before sending players for initial scans, the Gunners’ medics sent Saka for a scan after the game as he was complaining of significant pain.

Arsenal wanted to ascertain whether his hamstring had become unattached from the bone, given that he left Selhurst Park on crutches.

They were so concerned and feared he might have suffered a hamstring avulsion, which would have required surgery and up to six months of recovery time.

Luckily for Arsenal, Saka could spend around three months on the sidelines, and they will hope he returns sooner.

While being without such an influential player until March 2025 is still a huge blow, the Gunners will be grateful the worst did not happen.

However, Saka will be back for the remaining two months of the campaign if his recovery goes well, and he could return in time to give them a much-needed boost during the title run-in.

Arsenal will hope to remain in the title race until the very end, and having the forward available for such a crucial part of the season will come in handy.

Saka has weighed in with five goals and ten assists in 16 Premier League games this term, and other attackers will have to step up in his absence.

The 23-year-old has been involved in more league goals than any other player at Arsenal, followed by Kai Havertz, who has six goals and two assists.
