Sergio Conceicao clinched an important win in his first game as the head coach of AC Milan, leading them to a second-half turnaround. As highlighted by a newspaper this evening, it was a good first sign despite a subpar performance overall.
Indeed, the Rossoneri had their fair share of struggles in the game, especially in the first half, and Juventus could have killed the game earlier on. They never did, though, and Conceicao’s men pounced at the right moment to clinch the win.
As highlighted by today’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), the huddle with the entire team at the end was an encouraging snapshot of Milan’s new era. There is still a lot of work to be done, but the team has a soul that promises to be different.
Of course, given the lack of training sessions ahead of the game, Conceicao couldn’t work miracles and had to work with the little he had. Milan were a bit lucky with their goals, but without luck in football, then you won’t get anywhere.
Furthermore, the manager also deserved praise for making the necessary changes in the second half, as well as energising the team during the interval. Much more will be needed against Inter on Monday, that’s for sure, but at least the win against Juventus was a good first sign.
