Another defeat for Real Madrid has once again brought criticism towards manager Carlo Ancelotti.

In fact, according to Mundo Deportivo, the loss against Espanyol has triggered a fresh wave of attacks on the Italian, something that has been a constant theme this season.

A significant section of Real Madrid supporters has been openly calling for his dismissal, expressing frustration with his leadership.

Criticism towards Ancelotti

One of the main points of contention among Ancelotti’s critics is his handling of Antonio Rudiger’s injury during the Espanyol match.

Many feel that the coach failed to provide the necessary rest for the German defender, which ultimately led to his injury.

With an update on his injury made public, it has been confirmed that he will be sidelined for the upcoming derby against Atletico Madrid. This has only fueled the doubts surrounding Ancelotti’s decision-making.

In terms of defensive strategy, Ancelotti has been under fire for not utilising more of the squad’s potential.

His critics are puzzled by his decision to stick with Aurelien Tchouameni in a centre-back role, while not giving more game time to players like Raul Asensio.

Additionally, his preference for Lucas Vazquez at right-back has raised eyebrows, with many questioning why he does not give younger players a chance to prove themselves in that position.

The performance of the team, particularly in the first half of matches, has also come under scrutiny. Real Madrid’s lacklustre display has raised doubts about Ancelotti’s tactical approach, especially when it comes to making substitutions.

In the game against Espanyol, he made only three changes, a move that many supporters found insufficient.

Furthermore, Ancelotti’s failure to integrate Arda Guler more into the squad has also drawn criticism, with many feeling that the young talent deserves more opportunities to showcase his abilities.

Future in question?

Despite the mounting pressure from a portion of the fanbase, Real Madrid remain committed to Ancelotti for now, with the club maintaining that he will finish the season.

However, the situation could change if Real Madrid faces elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Manchester City in February.

Should that occur, Ancelotti’s future at the club could be in serious jeopardy, and it would be interesting to see if the club opts for a drastic change in management.
