Bjelica's boys in Salzburg

Will it be a case of third time lucky? We used the international break to put the first two UEFA Champions League matchdays behind us, and we want to finally make our mark on the competition. This Wednesday 23 October we are hosting Dinamo Zagreb in Salzburg. Tickets are still available for all 2024/25 season-ticket holders as well as those who purchased tickets in 2022/23, 2023/24 and 2024/25 (maximum of four per person).

Over the past few years we have met Dinamo several times, most recently in the UEFA Champions League group stage in the season before last (taking a win and a draw). We have enjoyed the upper hand, going unbeaten in regular time. The Croatian visitors have some Austrian experience in the form of coach Nenad Bjelica, who once led Austria Vienna and has been in office since the end of September. You can read more about Dinamo Zagreb in our opposition portrait. We warmed up for the big European night with a trickier than expected encounter with Altach, but we banked an important home win in the end. Our upcoming Champions League opponents were held to a 2-2 draw against NK Istra in the Hrvatska Nogometna Liga, with the Modri a lower than accustomed third place in the table. A result against Dinamo (who have one point after two matches) would be extremely important for our Red Bulls' ambitions of keeping within reach of the knockout spots in the league phase table – three points would put us right back into the race! That makes the support of our own fans all the more important. Everything worth knowing about coming to the stadium is summarised in our matchday info article.

We will be delighted for you to support us from home or on the road too, of course! We will cover the game on our website and in our app as well as with live text coverage. Video highlights of the encounter will be available shortly after midnight (Austrian time). Pay TV provider Canal+ is broadcasting live in Austria.

We are pleased about the good finish and win against Altach, as that definitely helps us. The match against Dinamo will definitely be much tougher, and we will have to significantly improve. Our analysis is that Zagreb are a really good team. We will definitely have to take another step to get a win on Wednesday.

The success at the weekend did us well and gave us more confidence. That match definitely doesn't have much to do with our Champions League encounter. We will definitely do everything we can to finally win some points.
