Daniele Doveri will officiate AC Milan’s game against Lecce tomorrow, as confirmed by AIA. While it has been a bit of a mixed bag with the 47-year-old, the Rossoneri’s record is still positive with him.
AIA confirmed the referees for the 28th round on Wednesday, assigning the experienced Doveri to Milan’s encounter with Lecce at Via Del Mare. He will be joined by Daniele Chiffi, who will be in charge of VAR on the night, and a few others.
Taking a look at Milan’s record with Doveri, it’s actually rather positive: 16 wins, 8 draws and 9 defeats. Furthermore, in 30 games, they have been awarded 7 penalties by the referee. It has been a while since he officiated a game involving the Rossoneri, though.
Indeed, we have to go back to February 2024 for the last game, when he officiated Milan’s 1-0 win over Napoli at San Siro (Theo Hernandez winner). As was highlighted back then, Doveri also got all of the tough decisions right in the game, which is reassuring.
Another interesting detail to note is that Doveri officiated Milan’s Scudetto game against Sassuolo in the 2021-22 season, which the Rossoneri won by a convincing three goals to nil. Since he has been a referee for so long, though, there have also been some poor moments.
