Sheffield Wednesday got back to winning ways in League One as they beat Fleetwood Town 2-1 on Boxing Day.
The Owls’ seventh win of the season away from home has moved the Yorkshire side just two points behind Ipswich Town in the automatic places.
Moore’s men got off to a rocky start as they trailed after only eight minutes, as Fleetwood defender Shaun Rooney smashed the ball into the back of the net, giving Cameron Dawson no chance.
However, it didn’t last long as George Byers equalised from Marvin Johnson’s cross on the 16th minute mark. Before, it was Johnson himself who found the winner, lashing the ball home from the edge of the box with 17 minutes to go.
Unfortunately, before these three points came Moore seemed to have suffered a blow as Wednesday duo Dominic Iorfa and Mallik Wilks missed the Boxing Day victory.
Speaking post-match, Moore provided an update on the injured duo ahead of their game against Port Vale on Thursday.
He said, via Yorkshire Live: “We think it’ll be a few weeks (out),” he said on Iorfa. “But obviously over the Christmas and New Year period, that means you’re talking about four or five games that he could potentially miss – even though it’s a short period of time.
“He’s just picked up a little strain in his ankle, Achilles that we’ve got to let settle down, so it’ll be at least a couple of weeks. It was a personal issue today why he (Wilks) wasn’t involved so we certainly hope that the situation will sort itself out and that he’ll be available for the next game.”

The Verdict
Both players have played important roles so far this season in Moore’s team and will be big misses if they are unavailable for their next few fixtures over the Christmas period.
Wednesday have been an impressive team so far this season and keeping chipping away the games as they try to keep up with Ipswich and Plymouth Argyle.
It’s a long hard season in League One and Moore will know he’ll need everyone to be fit and firing come the important part of the season, so he will be hoping this duo return as soon as possible.
