Davy Klaassen reveals 'anger' after De Klassieker missile attack | OneFootball

Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen has revealed his “anger” after being struck with a missile during Wednesday’s De Klassieker.

Klaassen scored the decisive goal to send John Heitinga’s side into the KNVB Cup final with a 2-1 win over arch-rivals Feyenoord before he was hit in the head by an object thrown from the crowd.

Play was suspended for 28 minutes at De Kuip in light of the incident, which the Netherlands international admits irked him in the immediate aftermath as he suffered heavy bleeding and was substituted due to dizziness.

“There was some kind of uproar, I went there to try and keep it calm,” revealed Klaassen

“Then suddenly something hit my head. I was angry at first. It’s hard to explain what you feel then. It hurt in the beginning, But that quickly turned into anger.

“The game was suspended and we thought, “what’s going to happen now?’ You don’t want to bow down to this sort of thing. It’s not nice, but in the end we’re there to win and that’s what happened.”

Police arrested a 32-year-old man in the stands as part of their investigation into the object thrown at Klaassen in the 51st minute of the game.
