Dan and Ryan Friedkin of The Friedkin Group, who own Roma, are due to arrive in the capital this weekend to hold a series of meetings with club staff and directors, which could spell trouble for coach Ivan Juric given the precedents set by the dismissals of Daniele De Rossi and Jose Mourinho over the last year.
According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, the Friedkins will arrive at Ciampino airport on a private jet on Saturday morning.
The Giallorossi owners are reportedly coming to town to ‘take control’ of the situation at the Stadio Olimpico, as Roma continue to face difficulties on and off the pitch in 2024-25.
Rumours regarding Juric’s future as head coach have been circulating for some time already.
Though there is no suggestion that Juric will be dismissed during the Friedkins’ visit this weekend, their presence still puts pressure on the head coach, as both De Rossi and Mourinho were sacked after in-person meetings with the owners in Rome.
Coincidentally, confirmation of Mourinho and De Rossi’s dismissals both came first thing on a Tuesday morning after Serie A matches the weekend prior.
As there is no confirmation that Juric will talk to the Friedkins about his future with Roma, other rumours have been circulating as well, such as a possible appointment of a new CEO. That position has been left vacant since the resignation of Lina Souloukou in September.
