Deco confirms legal battle against ex-Barcelona presidential candidate – ‘Nothing to do with the club’ | OneFootball

Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has confirmed that he has taken legal action against Victor Font, the former candidate for the club’s presidency.

Font recently made statements that Deco strongly disagrees with. The legal action stems from Font’s remarks regarding the transfer of Vitor Roque to Barcelona, an issue that has caused considerable tension between the two.

Deco has made it clear that he has already filed the lawsuit, and the matter is now in the hands of the court. He stated that he does not personally know Font’s address, as it will be the court’s responsibility to serve him with the necessary legal documents.

“I don’t know his address, it is the court that has to send it to him. Not everything is worth in the world of football,” Deco told SPORT.

He also stressed that this legal complaint is a personal matter and has no connection to Barcelona or any political agenda.

He refuses to accept suggestions that he has personally benefited from his role at the club, particularly regarding his work in player recruitment.

He is adamant about clearing his name and ensuring that no one makes unfounded claims about his professional decisions.

“Let it be clear that the complaint is on a personal level, it has nothing to do with the club or politics.

“Neither he nor anyone else is going to assure me that I have benefited from something that is my work. I am not going to allow it, but it is a personal issue for me. I want this to be very clear,” he added.

What did Font actually say?

Font’s comments implied that there was something questionable about the transfer of Vitor Roque, particularly because Deco was already involved with the player before officially taking over as sporting director.

He pointed out that Deco had initially recommended the player while Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff were in charge of the sporting department. Once they left and Deco stepped into his new role, the signing of Vitor Roque became his first major operation.

“Deco offered Vitor Roque when Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff were in the sporting direction. When they leave and he enters, it is the first operation he does,”

These insinuations deeply frustrated Deco, leading him to seriously consider legal action. After careful thought, he decided to follow through and take the matter to court.
