Ahead of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Aston Villa FC on Wednesday 9th April at 9pm at the Parc des Princes, the Paris Saint-Germain striker appeared at a press conference and answered questions from PSG TV. Here are some extracts.

Back on the pitch after winning the French league title

‘As soon as we got back to training, we got back into it. We're taking this match very seriously and we're going to play to win. We're focused, we know what we have to do and tomorrow will be the time to play a great match.’

Current form

‘I analyse my matches and training sessions a lot. I try to keep a certain discipline and I hope that all that will take me to the highest level. Now, I'm feeling better and better in this team. We're doing very well, so I'm very happy. The most important thing is to perform by scoring or assisting goals.'

His development within the club

‘I'm trying to improve every day. There are a lot of great players in this team, and they help me a lot. Paris Saint-Germain is a club that makes a lot of young people, a lot of players, dream. For me, it's a great project.'

His first cap for the French senior team

‘Playing in the French team was a dream for me. I went there without any pressure, but with a lot of joy, honour and pride. Now I'm going to keep working to get back there.'

His style of play

‘On the pitch, there are different areas: areas where you can build, others where you have to give the ball away quickly, and others where you have more freedom. I always try to keep my personality. I'm a young player, so I still need to improve in a lot of areas. The coach and staff give me a lot of advice. I'm always trying to challenge myself while keeping my own style.'

The Portuguese influence within the team

‘They help us a lot in this team. They're great lads and it's a pleasure to play with them. On the pitch too, they give us an enormous amount, they're excellent. We're a group made up of players from different countries, and that's another of our strengths.'

Aston Villa

‘When you reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League, it's not a matter of chance. I don't know if we can talk about favourites. If Aston Villa are here, it's because they deserve to be. They're a very good team with some very good players.'
