An insight into the defensive selection plans of the coaching staff at La Liga giants Real Madrid for the club’s upcoming fixtures has on Friday been provided.

Real Madrid, of course, are facing up to an altogether high-profile week ahead.

After first playing host to city rivals Atlético in a top-of-the-table La Liga clash, Los Blancos will then turn attentions towards matters in Europe, in a first-leg Champions League playoff meeting with Manchester City.

Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, though, is currently facing up to an untimely personnel crisis.

At the heart of defence, Real currently find themselves without any of Antonio Rüdiger, David Alaba, or Éder Militão.

Ancelotti and his staff therefore have some major decisions to make when it comes to the club’s backline for their upcoming outings.

And, as alluded to above, on Friday, an insight into these plans has been forthcoming.

As per a report from Blancos insider Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, the expectation is that Raúl Asencio and Aurélien Tchouaméni will form the partnership at the heart of the Spanish champions’ defence against both Atlético Madrid and Manchester City.
