Devyne Rensch has been ruled out of Ajax’s Champions League match with Napoli after picking up an injury.

Rensch has been an important player for Ajax this season following the departure of Noussair Mazraoui, becoming their first-choice right-back.

Given that, the team have suffered a big blow with the Dutchman now unavailable for their crucial match away to Napoli on Wednesday night.

The club announced that he hasn’t travelled with the squad to Italy as he is injured, but they didn’t specify what that injury is exactly.

On a brighter note, the other right-back in the squad, Jorge Sanchez, is fit again after missing the 6-1 humiliation in Amsterdam due to fitness issues of his own.

The Mexican hasn’t played much since joining the Eredivise champions from Club America for around €5m in the summer, but could get his first start of the season with Rensch out of contention.
