On Sunday evening, the draw for the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal was made following the conclusion of the quarter-finals last week.

The lowest ranked team left in the competition were Arminia Bielefeld after beating Werder Bremen last Tuesday. Their journey to the semi-finals for the first time in 10 years also saw them beat Freiburg and Union Berlin. They will be looking to make their first ever appearance in the final.

The reward for their effort is a home tie against the defending champions Bayer LeverkusenDie Werkself beat rivals 1.FC Köln 3-2 in after extra-time to book their place in the final four earlier in Feburary. The Bielefeder Alm has been a fortress for Bielefeld this season, and they will need it to be at its best if they are to claim the biggest of all Bundesliga scalps.

Elsewhere, the other semi-final sees VfB Stuttgart host RB Leipzig. Stuttgart beat Augsburg 1-0 earlier in February to get to this point, while Leipzig saw off Wolfsburg 1-0 with an underwhelming performance last week.

Stuttgart have not won the Pokal in 28 years (1996/97) where they beat Energie Cottbus in the final, their last appearance in the final was in 2012/13 where they lost to Bayern Munich. Leipzig, on the other hand, are looking for their third Pokal in four years having won the competition back to back in 2021/22 and 22/23.

The semi-finals will be played on the 1st to 2nd of April.
