West Ham and Lazio former striker Paolo Di Canio praised Dusan Vlahovic’s two ‘stunning’ goals in Juventus‘ 3-2 win over Leipzig, claiming this is how the Bianconeri striker should ‘channel his positive energy’ after his polemical celebration against Genoa last Sunday.
The Serbia international scored twice in the Bianconeri’s Champions League fixture, and Di Canio was happy not to see him repeat those controversial gestures while celebrating that he defined as typical of ‘small players’.
With his celebration after scoring his second goal against Genoa, which saw him make a gesture meaning ‘keep talking’, Vlahovic hit back at those who doubted him for his lack of goals as he was unable to help Thiago Motta’s side during their streak of three consecutive goalless draws in Serie A.
“The two goals from Vlahovic were stunning,” Sky Sport Italia pundit Di Canio said after the match.
“So, that’s all Vlahovic needs to do: to channel his positive energy, knowing that he’s Juventus number nine and he needs to do this.
“Did you see? He scored twice today and didn’t make it like this [any polemic gesture]. Because a very good player who turns into a champion in such an important team can drop those behaviours.
“He knows he’ll be criticised, that we’ll criticise him when it’ll be the case under our point of view, and he’ll answer in this way. This is good.”
Vlahovic has now scored six goals from eight matches across all competitions since the arrival of coach Thiago Motta at Juventus, also delivering one assist.
