Did Patrick Stewart sell Rangers fans a big transfer dummy?

With the surprise signing of Portugal’s Rafael Fernandez Ibrox Noise wonders if CEO Patrick Stewart rather sold us all a bit of a dummy.

The new boss at Ibrox categorically stated only a few days ago that only one or two new bodies would be coming in and while this addition doesn’t necessarily dispute those words the fact it came out of the blue may suggest that Stewart was trying to lower expectations.

While manager Philippe Clement stated that he had several players in mind the CEO contradicted that by saying only one or two.

Admittedly the window is very deep in now at the 18th, but that still leaves 13 more days further additions could come in.

We do now wonder if more will and that the CEO was just trying to lower peoples expectations.

Do we expect to get more now? Well, there’s no doubt that a single 22-year-old defender doesn’t quite cover all of Rangers needs right now so we would like to think that there is an ace or two up Rangers sleeve and that one or two more may come in.

Fernandes might not be the most sensational signing of all time, but we are surprised it happened at all.
