Former Ajax wing-back Ar’jany Martha has moved to Beerschot. The 20-year-old left the Amsterdam club earlier in July and has signed a contract for several seasons under manager Dirk Kuyt.
Speaking to his new club’s website, Martha mentioned game time as a big reason for his decision to switch to the newly promoted Belgian Pro League club.
“I could’ve signed with Ajax, but I wanted to play more. From the first conversation I had a good feeling about Beerschot. In the individual conversations with coach Dirk Kuyt I became convinced that this was the best step for me and my career. I am already looking forward to playing here in the Olympic Stadium.”
Kuyt is also reportedly happy with the deal. The promotion-winning manager, in charge since December 2023, said of his new player:
“He has a lot of talent, a lot of potential and also a lot of experience. With more than a hundred professional matches under his belt, he knows what it is to perform at a high level. On top of that, he has the qualities we need to play our 5-2-3 system.”
Martha made his debut in the first team of Ajax last season. He played nine league matches.
