Italy international Nicolo Zaniolo is set to join Fiorentina in a transfer from Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray, which will also bring an end to his loan spell with Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta.

If the move is made permanent, Fiorentina will pay a fee of €15m according to reports on Sunday morning. There will be an obligation to buy if Zaniolo features in 60% of the club’s matches during the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Fiorentina and Galatasaray are discussing the final formalities and exchanging the necessary documents ahead of an official announcement.
It will be a return to Tuscany for Zaniolo. The former Aston Villa loanee was born in the region and spent six years on the Viola’s books as a youth player before joining Inter and later Roma.
Zaniolo’s spell with Atalanta will also be brought to a premature end as a result of the move.

The 25-year-old joined La Dea on loan from Galatasaray at the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign, but has not nailed down a position as a guaranteed starter in Gasperini’s side, even after an injury to star forward Ademola Lookman.
He has made 14 appearances in Serie A for Atalanta this season, all of which have come off the substitutes’ bench for a total of 343 league minutes this term.
