Claudio Echeverri says he sees a lot of his own playing style in new team-mates Jeremy Doku and Savinho.

The exciting Argentine attacking midfielder has officially arrived at the City Football Academy having initially joined the Club in January 2024.

Echeverri spent the following 13 months back on loan at River Plate but moves to Manchester following eye-catching displays at the recent South American U20 Championship.

Another exciting attacking talent looking to continue his development under Pep Guardiola and his staff, the 19-year-old is hoping to emulate the rapid rise of fellow young forwards Doku and Savinho.

“Yes, of course, I’ve watched them play,” Echeverri said of his new team-mates.

“I’m a big fan of Doku. As I said, I see myself in them. They’re very dynamic players, as we say in Argentina, “very spicy” with the ball.

“They always take on defenders and go forward every time they get the ball. The way they play is something to admire.”

With six goals to his name, Echeverri was one of the breakout stars of the South American U20 Championship earlier this year.

Argentina finished as runners up behind Brazil, but only Colombia’s Neiser Villarreal bettered our new number 30’s tally in front of goal at the tournament.

While Echeverri was hoping his nation could go all the way, he felt the championship was an important opportunity to demonstrate his huge potential.

He added: “Honestly, it was a great experience, really good, and I’m very happy. The team did a great job.

“We couldn’t win the tournament, but I’m proud of our performance. Individually, I think I did well. I finished as the second top scorer with six goals.

“It was great to contribute to the team and prove myself.

“That tournament helped me showcase my football skills, which is what I love to do.

“I always try to play well and show what I can do. Coming here afterward gave me even more motivation.

“It was exciting to think about what was coming next.”
