Emiliano Martinez before the World Cup final: “We have the best in the world” | OneFootball

Ahead of Argentina’s FIFA World Cup final against France, the Albiceleste goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has stated that they have the best player in the world in Lionel Messi in the side.

Messi has been exceptional in the tournament so far and there is a case for him being the best player in the World Cup. Martinez though, was vital in making sure that Argentina managed to beat the Netherlands in the quarter-finals of the tournament some days ago.

Ahead of the final, Martinez spoke to reporters in the press conference and he spoke about how France are the favourites to win the competition but the South American side have Messi in their team and he is the best in the world.

He stated: “We’ve been watching France, it’s not just one player. The top 4 are very dangerous and have world-class defenders. We’ll try to play our game and hurt them.

“In the Copa América they said that the favorite was Brazil and now they can say it’s France. We like that, we don’t feel inferior to anyone. We have the best player in the world.

“I see Messi very well and that helps us a lot. This version of him is even better than the one in the Copa América. If we have a good defensive night, there are many chances.”
