Harry Kane is set to get the nod after Ollie Watkins started - and scored - against Greece
Harry Kane will return to the England starting line-up for Lee Carsley’s final match as interim manager on Sunday.
England host the Republic of Ireland at Wembley in their final Nations League group-stage match, knowing victory over the nation Carsley represented 40 times as a player will seal promotion back to the competition’s top tier for the Three Lions.
Failure to finish above Greece, who England beat 3-0 in Athens on Thursday night, will result in incoming permanent head coach Thomas Tuchel’s first matches in charge being promotion play-offs in March.
Captain Kane was a second-half substitute against Greece after Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins handed the start up front in his place and opened the scoring, but the England captain will return to the starting XI on Sunday.
Carsley told reporters on Saturday: "I'm looking forward to seeing him again tomorrow. Harry brings something different to Ollie Watkins. It's important we always try to play to his strengths, which we'll try to do."
Ezri Konsa completed recovery indoors on Saturday rather than joining the other 22 players for training at Tottenham’s Hotspur Way training base, so is unlikely to feature.
Uncapped quartet Tino Livramento, James Trafford, Jarell Quansah and Taylor Harwood-Bellis will hope to be awarded with their first appearances at senior level.
Angel Gomes is a favourite of Carsley’s but didn’t play against Greece so he could come in from the start.
England predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Walker, Guehi, Harwood-Bellis, Hall; Gomes, Gallagher; Bowen, Gibbs-White, Gordon; Kane
