Erik ten Hag is a serious candidate for Bayer Leverkusen job

As reported by Kicker and Florian Plettenberg, Erik ten Hag is a serious candidate for the Bayer Leverkusen head coach job.

B04 has shortlisted the former Manchester United boss, whilst the club gathers information on him.

The Dutchman has been linked with a move to the Bundesliga prior to these rumours, but with Borussia Dortmund. Ten Hag was seen at several BVB games. However, a move never materialised.

B04 are yet to begin talks with ten Hag, and that’s mainly because of Xabi Alonso. The club is still waiting for a decision from the coach, should he wish to leave for Real Madrid this summer.

Reports linking Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid are increasing following the news that current Real head coach Carlo Ancelotti is close to completing his move to Brazil.

Reports in Spain suggest that “Xabi Alonso expects news” very soon. For Alonso, the opportunity to manage Real will most likely be too good to turn down.

With this in mind, B04 are clearly putting a contingency plan in motion.
