Manchester City may have dropped more Premier League points at the weekend, drawing 2-2 with Brighton & Hove Albion to ensure their remaining focus is now on simply qualifying for the Champions League – a historic fifth consecutive title is long gone.

But Erling Haaland reached a major milestone 11 minutes into the game at the Etihad Stadium. The Norwegian converted an early penalty to give City a lead that they soon surrendered.

For Haaland, it was his 84th Premier League goal and, combined with 16 assists, his 100th goal involvement in the competition following his 2022 arrival.

That milestone has been achieved in as few as 94 games, which is a Premier League record for the fewest to get there, beating a plethora of goalscoring legends.

The previous record for 100 goal involvements was held by Alan Shearer, whose 79 goals and 21 assists for Blackburn Rovers in the early years of the Premier League era came in 100 games.

Eric Cantona got to 100 goal involvements for Leeds United and Manchester United in 116 games, the same number as current Liverpool star Mohamed Salah. Manchester City icon Sergio Aguero needed 118 games and Arsenal hero Thierry Henry reached the century in 121.

Rounding out the top ten on the all-time list of fewest games to 100 Premier League goal involvements is Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Les Ferdinand and Andrew Cole.

Haaland is the player in the top ten with the highest proportion of goals within his 100 involvements with 84% those that he's scored himself, rather than set up for others – a reminder of why he's regarded as one of the best strikers in the world. Cantona, meanwhile, wasn't far off a 50/50 split through the first 100, scoring 58 and assisting 42.

The next milestone for Haaland is 100 Premier League goals, which is now 16 away. Only a truly blistering finish to this season would get him there before the end of the campaign, but it will likely come early in 2025/26 and another record for speed also beckons.

Shearer remains the fastest to net 100 times in the competition, achieving that milestone mark in 1995 after 124 Premier League appearances. Given the rate at which he's scored the first 84, Haaland will absolutely shatter that mark soon enough.
