According to a report from Liverpool Echo, Everton have officially announced that Tom Davies will depart Goodison Park this summer, despite offering a new contract to the 24-year-old Academy graduate to extend his stay. Davies, who has made 179 appearances for the club across various competitions, is now looking forward to his next chapter, with reported interest coming from AS Monza and Rangers.

Davies’ Growing Struggles With Everton

Davies has encountered difficulties in playing time during his spell at the Merseyside club. Throughout the season, he has only managed to make 20 appearances for Everton.

Due to limited opportunities with the Toffees, Davies hasn’t had sufficient chances to showcase his abilities consistently, making it challenging to establish himself as a reliable performer. As a result, his statistical contributions in the Premier League have been relatively modest, averaging 0.5 shots, 0.1 key passes, 0.8 tackles, 0.2 interceptions, 0.1 clearances, and 0.2 dribbles per game. However, there has been an improvement in his passing accuracy, with a 74.8% completion rate in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).

Good Call From Dyche In Sanctioning His Exit?

Davies possesses several notable qualities that make him a promising football player. One of his key strengths is his versatility, as he is capable of playing in multiple positions across the midfield. Davies demonstrates good technical skills, including ball control and passing ability, enabling him to contribute effectively to his team’s build-up play.

The academy graduate exhibits a commendable work rate on the field, showcasing determination and a willingness to put in the hard yards defensively and offensively. Additionally, Davies displays great energy and athleticism, allowing him to cover ground and contribute to the team’s pressing and transition phases. With his youthful exuberance and potential for further development, Davies has the ingredients to become a valuable asset for any team in the future.

Given his desire for increased playing time, it presents a challenge for Sean Dyche to incorporate the youngster into the first team. Therefore, Davies’ most feasible course of action is to depart Goodison Park in pursuit of regular football opportunities. Hence, Dyche should sanction his exit and look to recoup a decent sum over a transfer deal.
