In a recent report, The Daily Mail stated that Everton are keeping a keen eye on Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh who is currently playing on loan at Feyenoord. It has been claimed that the Toffees are showing interest in recruiting the Gambian wide player this summer.

Minteh has enjoyed a decent loan spell at Feyenoord as he has put in a string of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 19-year-old has banged in 11 goals and grabbed six assists in 37 appearances for the Dutch club this season across all competitions.

The talented teenager has caught the eye at times on the right flank based on his average of 2.1 shots, 1.0 key passes and 2.2 dribbles per game in the Dutch Eredivisie. However, he has been a bit untidy with his ball distribution after making just 69.4% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Dutch football (stats via whoscored).

Minteh is under contract at his parent club Newcastle United until the summer of 2028. Hence, Everton would have to make a big offer if they are serious about landing him later this year.

Should Everton Move In For Minteh This Summer?

Minteh is a decent dribbler and can shoot the ball accurately from long range. He can also create a few inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. The Gambian youngster mainly functions as a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as a left-winger or play in the number ten position if asked to do so by his manager.

We can expect Minteh to bring more firepower to Everton‘s frontline. He is already good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at Goodison Park next season. At 19, Minteh has the potential to be a world-class wide player someday which makes him an excellent choice for the Merseyside club to consider for the long run.

However, there are some question marks over whether the Gambian whizkid can cope with the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of signing someone with Minteh’s potential, so the Toffees should focus on moving in for him when the transfer window reopens later this summer.
