Former Inter Milan defender Daniele Adani feels that the Nerazzurri wouldn’t have allowed Juventus to come back in Derby d’Italia if they were “switched-on.”

Adani spoke to RAI Sport, via FCInterNews, after the match. He gave his criticism of his former side after the wild 4-4 Serie A thriller.

The Derby d’Italia between Inter and Juventus is certainly one of Italian football’s most important fixtures.

But it does not exactly have a reputation for entertainment value.

The Milan derby between the Nerazzurri and AC Milan is certainly a fixture that has produced some high-scoring, dramatic matches over the years, including recently.

But in the Derby d’Italia, there have often been cagey matches. 1-0 scorelines are not uncommon.

However, yesterday evening Inter and Juventus put on a spectacle that can rival anything that the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have done in living memory.

Both the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri held the lead at various points over the course of the Serie A showdown.

But in the end, it was a 4-4 draw for the two giants of Italian football.

Adani: “Inter Milan Wouldn’t Have Allowed Juventus Comeback If They Were Switched-On”

“It’s very clear that their focus is dropping off,” said Inter defender Adani of his old team after yesterday’s match.

“Their reading of the game has become a little more superficial.”

“It’s even harder to confirm your place at the top than it is to establish it,” Adani argued. “And Inter are doing their part.”

“A team that’s switched-on, claiming their status as the best team in the league, has a different approach [yesterday],” the former defender said. “They wouldn’t allow Juventus to come back into the match.”

“There are faults in the team that have caused errors,” he said.

“But this is also a team that has asserted itself in the Champions League. They played their game away at City.”

“They make some errors, but they remain the strongest team in the league,” Adani argued.
