Former Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi has questioned Thiago Motta’s decision to leave Kenan Yildiz out of his starting line-up for Wednesday evening’s 2-2 Serie A draw with Parma, while also labelling Juve’s performance as ‘embarrassing at times’.

Juventus were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Parma in Serie A. As Napoli and Inter both won midweek, the Bianconeri have now fallen seven points off the lead and have also slipped into fourth behind Atalanta in the process.

Though the Old Lady started the 2024-25 season brightly under Thiago Motta, questions have been asked in recent weeks over their consistency in Serie A.

Tacchinardi questions Yildiz omission in ’embarrassing’ Juventus display

Tacchinardi is among Juve’s latest critics, as he could not understand the decision to omit Yildiz from the starting line-up against Parma, especially considering his brace off the bench in the 4-4 Derby d’Italia draw against Inter over the weekend.

“It’s not right that a young lad who scored two goals at San Siro should be left out, especially in a match that they had to win, because Inter won and Napoli are slipping away. Honestly, (it was) an embarrassing match at times,” Tacchinardi told listeners on Pressing on SportMediaset.

The Serie A table could yet change before the end of Thursday, and could potentially impact Juventus, too. Fiorentina, currently in fifth and two points off Juve will jump into fourth if they win against Genoa this evening, while Lazio, level on points with Fiorentina, will also leapfrog Juve if they beat Como later on.
