Ex-Liverpool, Middlesbrough defender Daniel Ayala training with Nantwich Town

Former Liverpool and Norwich City defender Daniel Ayala is training with non-league Nantwich Town.

Currently without a club after turning down a new contract with Middlesbrough, Ayala is training with Nantwich Town as he gets ready for a new chapter in his career.

He hasn't played since January 1 when he was injured during an away win at Preston North End.

Nantwich play in the Northern Premier League Premier Division (Level 7 of English football's pyramid) and Ayala told their website: “I am massively grateful for them because without them I wouldn't have a pitch to try and get back to proper fitness.

“So I'm really thankful for the opportunity to train here on the pitch and to get fit."
