Ahead of their upcoming game, the most important step for FC Barcelona would be to shrug off their recent disappointment. Despite falling to Osasuna in La Liga, the Catalan giants still manage to cling to first position. Holding onto the positives will be good for Barcelona, especially right now.
That is because the next challenge for the Catalan giants will be a match in the UEFA Champions League. They will be visited by Swiss side BSC Young Boys at the Montjuic Stadium and it will undoubtedly be a game in which Barça will want all three points.
Ahead of the match, however, BSC Young Boys head coach Patrick Rahman also had his own press conference. As highlighted by SPORT, one of the key questions he was asked ahead of the game was his opinion of 17-year-old Lamine Yamal, a player he considers to be ‘excellent’, and how he plans to stop him:
“Lamine is an excellent player. His talent and what he has achieved at such a young age is exceptional.“
However, when it came to discussing how he plans on limiting the player during the game, Rahmen was clear about the kind of approach he will likely adopt for the €120m-rated Barcelona sensation:
“… I imagine he will play, but we don’t have an individual player to mark him; we’ll try to control him as a team.“
While such a specific mention will undoubtedly be great praise for Lamine Yamal, it is hardly surprising. The young winger from La Masia continues to break all the barriers and expectations that have been set for him as he continues to dominate the European scene in various aspects.
From goals to assists to even ground duels, there are simply no two ways around the fact that Yamal is one of Europe’s best and most in-form players right now. His ceiling seems to know no bounds and the Barcelona star is simply steamrolling his way through life right now.
