Former Liverpool Defender Backs ‘World-Class’ Trent Alexander-Arnold for Major Success at Real Madrid

As the end of the season edges closer, transfer speculation is beginning to really ramp up ahead of what is expected to be a really busy window. That’s especially the case for the Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Whilst talks have started over potential incomings on Merseyside, the headlines are still being dominated by the expected departures of some of Liverpool’s standout players. Most notably, Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold all have just three months remaining on their current contracts and are currently set to leave the club for free.

According to reports from Spain, Alexander-Arnold has already agreed to leave the club this summer and has already agreed terms with Real Madrid ahead of a blockbuster move. Regardless of those reports, a move seems inevitable at this stage – leaving Liverpool with a huge task on their hands.

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock spoke exclusively to EPL Index, courtesy of NewBettingSites.uk, and shared his thoughts on the reported move…

“A Brilliant Fit”

When it comes to playing for Real Madrid, the standards are at a level that is unreachable to most players. But it’s hard to deny Alexander-Arnold’s special ability, which Warnock believes is a match for the Spanish giant’s legacy.

“I think Trent would be a good fit at Real Madrid, a brilliant fit in fact,” began Warnock, “He’s a world-class player who would be amongst other world-class players at an incredible club.”

Of course, Madrid have dominated the European scene over the past decade and their current group of players include a range of high profile names. Kylian Mbappe’s arrival last summer completed their attacking outlet, linking up with the likes of Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo.

Alexander-Arnold’s close friend Jude Bellingham was also tipped to join the Reds prior to his move to the Spanish capital, which Warnock also pointed out as an important factor behind the move.

“You only have to look at Bellingham and how quickly he learned the language and adapted to the lifestyle over in Spain,” said Warnock.

Adapting to Life in Spain

Warnock has no doubt over the ability of Alexander-Arnold, but instead suggests that adapting to the lifestyle and culture abroad could be difficult.

“I don’t have any worries about him adapting to the style of play or anything like that, but instead how he adapts to the life over there,” said Warnock.

“It’d be an interesting one. We don’t know what has been going on behind the scenes,” continued Warnock, “He might have been learning Spanish for years because he thought this move was in the pipeline.”

There have been plenty of example of English players struggling to adapt abroad in the past. Even from Liverpool, where the likes of Michael Owen and Steve McManaman both failed to make their desired impact at Madrid.

Looking Ahead

However, as it stands there is no deal agreed just yet between the two parties and Alexander-Arnold remains focused on securing his second Premier League title with the Reds, although he is still sidelined through injury at the moment.

Looking past Alexander-Arnold’s situation, Liverpool will surely have to start moving quickly to secure the futures of both Van Dijk and Salah. It would be completely disastrous to lose all three players this summer.
