Cristiano Giuntoli’s imminent departure from Juventus means that the Bianconeri are no longer expected to pursue a deal for Napoli-owned striker Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window, Football Italia understands.

Giuntoli departure rules Juventus out of the running for Osimhen

Osimhen is expected to be sold by Napoli during the summer transfer window after an impressive season on loan with Galatasaray. He has a release clause worth €75m in his contract, which will be valid for teams outside Serie A this summer.

Despite the fact that they are unable to trigger the release clause in Osimhen’s contract with Napoli, Juventus have still been keen on the idea of striking a deal with the Partenopei.

Giuntoli, who has been working as Juventus’s sporting director, used to work in the same role at Napoli and was responsible for bringing Osimhen to Serie A in the first place.

Juventus had been prepared to lodge an offer with Napoli in the first half of July, even though Napoli have always maintained that they did not wish to negotiate with Juventus, a direct league rival.

However, with Giuntoli now expected to leave the club, Juventus are no longer expected to pursue a deal for the Nigeria international this summer.

That leaves Osimhen needing to review some of his alternative options, among which is Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, who are prepared to offer a lucrative contract in order to lure the Nigeria international to the Middle East.

Al-Hilal, meanwhile, are interested in a number of high-profile Serie A talents heading into the summer transfer window, including Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi and Milan left-back Theo Hernandez.
