Crystal Palace have struck first in the capital during their FA Cup semi-final clash against Aston Villa at Wembley.

With a chance to reach just their third-ever final in the storied competition, the Eagles have star midfielder Eberechi Eze to thank for their slim first-half lead after beating Emi Martínez with a thunderbolt from distance.

The London native and former QPR standout smashed his effort from outside of the box first time after Ismaïla Sarr picked him out free and clear on the edge of the area, leaving Martínez with no chance to deny him one of the best hits of his career.

Palace, who had an earlier effort through Jean-Philippe Mateta questionably pulled back for a foul, have not let the occasion get to them as Oliver Glasner's troops continue to hit Villa on the break.
