Fabregas feels Como ‘deserved more’ from Cagliari draw | OneFootball

Cesc Fabregas earned his first Serie A point as a coach, but insists Como ‘deserved more’ from their 1-1 draw away to Cagliari, as Nico Paz, Sergi Roberto and Maxi Perrone made their debuts.

The newly-promoted side had opened their campaign with a 3-0 defeat away to Juventus and were trailing in Sardinia too this evening.

However, Patrick Cutrone scored the first Como goal in the top flight for 21 years to cancel out the Roberto Piccoli header.

“I felt the victory was close, we deserved more in the second half, having played with courage and character,” Fabregas told DAZN.

“I am happy, because this is a difficult place to play, but at the same time we need to improve and as soon as possible get used to the Serie A tempo.”

The club has been very active on the transfer market this week and gave debuts to three new signings in the second half, Nico Paz from Real Madrid, ex-Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto and former Manchester City talent Maxi Perrone.

“We are a family, everyone has to run for everyone else. We are working very hard defensively, but with many new players we need to repeat, repeat, repeat the movements in training. It needs a little time, we are a work in progress, but still want to go out there and try to win every game. This is the mentality we need,” continued Fabregas.

“This is a club that two years ago did not have a training ground. We have grown very quickly.”

Fabregas is still getting to grips with the Italian media and followed what Jose Mourinho said when returning to Serie A for Roma, that they ask the best tactical questions.

In this case, he was impressed at being pushed on Gabriel Strefezza playing between the lines in the final third to avoid giving defenders any reference points.

“I like talking about these things. We needed mobility to attack their defence and Gabriel played really well.”

Cutrone scored and Alberto Cerri missed a couple of sitters, but Andrea Belotti is still looking to break his goal drought.

“When you work as hard as Gallo does, a goal is just a matter of time. This team has already improved compared to last week, in two or three months it will be a very different-looking team. I am satisfied with Belotti, he runs for the team and gives us options.”
