Paris Saint-Germain have prioritized signing young, promising players in recent transfer windows, but Luis Enrique and Luis Campos recognize the value of adding experienced talent—so long as they fit the club’s culture and system.

One area PSG may look to reinforce is defense, especially with Milan Skriniar expected to leave permanently this summer after his winter move to Fenerbahçe.

Rather than pursuing a marquee signing, PSG could explore a short-term deal with a familiar opponent. Virgil van Dijk is approaching the end of his contract, and reports suggest he’s on PSG’s radar.

Anfield Watch previously reported that PSG are preparing an €80 million offer over two years for Liverpool’s captain, with an option for a third season. A sizable signing bonus could push the total package to €100 million.

Virgil van Dijk won’t be joining his Liverpool teammate in Spain

With news that Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to the Bernabeu is being finalized, transfer expert Romano has quickly shut down speculation that his Reds teammate could follow him to Spain next season.

“In recent weeks, we’ve had reports about Virgil van Dijk and Real Madrid. Let me say that this has never been the case, I’m hearing Real Madrid have never had a conversation with Virgil van Dijk, the agents of Virgil van Dijk never started any conversations with Real Madrid,” Romano stated on his YouTube channel.

“Clubs are always attentive and informed on the situation, but Real Madrid never started negotiations for Virgil, and Virgil never started conversations with Real Madrid.”

David Ornstein of The Athletic previously reported that everyone involved is downplaying the possibility of Van Dijk moving to PSG, adding that Liverpool are confident he will sign an extension.

More recently, ESPN’s Julien Laurens echoed that sentiment, stating that a deal isn’t close—despite a video surfacing last week of the Liverpool captain with PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos.
