Father of AC Milan star speaks out on Barcelona links | OneFootball

The father of AC Milan star Tijjani Reijnders has this weekend spoken out on his son’s future with the club.

This comes amid speculation linking the Dutch international with a surprise move to Spain, with Barcelona.

Reports coming out of Italy this week have pointed towards Reijnders – in the midst of a stellar recent run of form – as having made his way firmly into the sights of the brass at the Camp Nou.

Amid an ongoing search for fresh blood in the middle of the park owing to the uncertain future of Frenkie de Jong, Deco and co. are understood to have marked the name of the Milan standout in red.

Those of a Barca persuasion keen to see Reijnders lining out in the club’s famed colours, though, need not get their hopes up.

This comes amid a significant update on the midfielder’s San Siro future.

In a post relaid by Mundo Deportivo on Sunday, Reijnders’ father, Martin, confirmed through social media that his son has opened negotiations with Milan over a new contract:

“What a week for Tijjani! Unjustified red card against Udinese! Yesterday Man of the Match with two goals against Club Brugge, and as icing on the cake we are in negotiations with Milan for a new contract! That’s how fast things can go in football!”
