As reported by Kicker, FC Köln are looking to extend the contract of striker Mark Uth. His current deal expires in the summer.
Speaking on the contract extension, Köln managing director Christian Keller said: “It is very clear that we want Mark to stay beyond the season.” Uth has struggled to play for Köln this season due to a host of injuries and the most recent one has meant he has not played since the end of October in what was a brief cameo against Hoffenheim. The 31-year-old has recently had an operation on his pubic bone and is out for the foreseeable.
Uth rejoined Köln in 2020 from Schalke on loan before joining permanently a year later. Uth is from Köln and came through the academy before leaving and joining Heerenveen in the Netherlands in 2012.
Köln currently find themselves 13th in the league and have struggled to balance league football with the UEFA Conference League, which saw them eliminated at the group stage.
