FC Nantes announced on Tuesday that midfielder Douglas Augusto will be unavailable for "several weeks", the 26-year-old Brazilian having suffered a knee injury in the 2-1 win away to Strasbourg in Ligue 1 Uber Eats Round 8.

Although Nantes' trip across France to face Strasbourg in Ligue 1 Uber Eats Round 8 was ultimately a success, with Pierre Aristouy's men getting a precious 2-1 win over Patrick Vieira's in-form side, there was a caveat: central midfielder Douglas Augusto, who has featured in every league outing this season, was forced off by injury just before half-time.

Subsequent examinations revealed a sprain of the left knee, and the club has announced that he will be out for "several weeks". While fate showed some clemency in manifesting the injury just before the international break, Augusto's absence is a real blow to Aristouy's side given how well the Brazilian has adapted to his new side - in particular developing a great understanding with fellow midfielder Pedro Chirivella - after arriving from PAOK in the summer.

FC Nantes dished out close to €6 million to secure the services of the Fluminense youth product and Corinthians alum, who is tied to the club from western France through to June 2027.
