Barcelona played out their game in hand against Osasuna late on Thursday night with several players still fatigued after the international break and its associated travel.
Hansi Flick ensured to not risk any players under stress for a short-term gain and thus rested the likes of Ronald Araujo and Raphinha. Others, like Robert Lewandowski, started on the bench out of precaution.
Despite the hurdles, the Blaugrana came out on top with a two-goal margin courtesy of goals from Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres and capitalized on the three points they had in hand.
One game after the international hiatus, Barcelona stand in first place with 63 points and are a whole three points clear of Real Madrid.
Barça Universal brings you the player ratings from Barcelona 2-0 Osasuna.
The goalkeeper barely had to move a muscle in terms of saves last night with Osasuna hardly threatening on goal.
His most memorable moment, ironically, was a piece of skill he showed in the first half to calmly evade pressure from Osasuna’s forwards and keep the ball in circulation.
Balde was one of the few Barcelona players who had two complete weeks of rest with no international duty and was back at his best against the Pamplona-based side.
Was a force down the left flank and earned the assist for Barcelona’s opening goal on the night. Barely misplayed a pass and was ruthless on the counter.
The Spaniard started for Barcelona in light of Pau Cubarsi’s injury and Ronald Araujo’s hectic travel and put in a shift where he did not look out of place for an instant.
Garcia’s distribution last night was on-point and he barely had any defensive effort to put in given Barcelona’s dominant and possession-heavy style of play.
A relatively silent game for the veteran defender despite the absence of Pau Cubarsi given the team’s attacking dominance.
Did well in leading the back line and was solid, as always, with his distribution and decision-making in the buildup.
A solid game from Kounde who enjoyed pushing himself forward given the lack of defensive responsibility on the night.
The Frenchman was effective in his combinations with Yamal and looked to overlap when the youngster drifted centrally. Played a crucial role in transitions and defending against them when off the ball.
A good showing from the Dutchman who had a busy international break as he continued his fluid connection with the likes of Pedri and Yamal on the field.
Was reliable on the ball, sharp with his distribution, and effective in carrying out his defensive duties. Was taken off at half-time to avoid fatigue.
Pedri was everywhere for Barcelona last night at Montjuic once more, taking no time to establish himself as the heart of the Catalan side after the international break.
Wriggled his way out of tricky situations with ease, kept the possession under pressure, and helped the team circulate the ball and retain possession.
An important game for the La Masia star whose confidence will further as he looks to step up after his ACL injury last season.
Gavi started in an attacking midfield role last night against Osasuna but drifted into defensive responsibilities as the game progressed. Was influential off the ball and in playing out of tight situations.

The Spaniard had a night far from memorable last night against Osasuna as his night ended early through an injury that Barcelona will hope is not serious.
Missed the first attempt of the penalty he stepped up for but went on to score when the spot-kick was re-taken.
Yamal was at his magical best on the left and regularly took on the Osasuna defense to get into scoring positions.
Did not hesitate to take shots from long distances and even came close to scoring on a couple of occasions.

The ‘Shark’ started for Barcelona with the manager preferring both Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski rested and put in a performance that once again exemplified why he is every manager’s dream player.
He scored the team’s opening goal with a finisher’s instinct and even came close to doubling his tally on several occasions in the first half. Struck the cross-bar with a free-kick.
The academy starlet came on to replace Olmo after his injury and did a good job of filling the void.
Worked well in tandem with Pedri and Gavi to keep the one-touch football going and threatened in the final third with his runs. Put in a phenomenal cross to assist Lewandowski’s goal.
The youngster racked up some rare minutes and did well to prove to the manager that he deserves more prominence.
Was a lively presence and made all the right decisions, earning the pre-assist for the third goal.
