FIFA Women’s World Cup: Colombia and France into quarter-finals | OneFootball

Colombia eliminated Jamaica 1-0 in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Round of 16, while France had a comfortable 4-0 victory over Morocco.

It will be Colombia who face England in Saturday’s late-morning quarter-final, after they knocked out Jamaica by the only goal of the game.

Colombia made the breakthrough six minutes into the second half, Ana Guzman’s cross brought down well by Catalina Usme before firing home.

Inside the last ten minutes, Drew Spence was inches from her downward header bringing an equaliser.

Leicy Santos headed against the far post for Colombia, Catalina Perez caught Atlanta Primus’s header at the death to seal her side’s progress.

France eased past Morocco 4-0 to set up a quarter-final with Australia at 8am (UK time) on Saturday.

Les Bleues were two up inside 20 minutes, Kadidiatou Diani allowed a free header from the cross by Sakina Karchaoui, before herself delivering from Kenza Dali to sweep the ball in via the far post.

Eugenie le Sommer soon buried a loose ball and netted a far-post header from Vicki Becho’s cross to make it 4-0 after 70 minutes.
