Following their relegation from the Belgian first division, it was questionable whether Beerschot and Dirk Kuyt would be able to participate in the Challenger Pro League next season. However, reports now suggest that licensing problems have been resolved.

Beerschot were officially relegated from the highest level in Belgium at the end of last month and were told a few days later that no professional license would be issued before the club answered to the licensing committee.

Beerschot have now successfully provided some documents and filled in the necessary gaps in the file, with the club reporting that all comments have been resolved and that there is now a recommendation to issue a professional license.

A verdict will follow later, but Beerschot seems to be able to continue its professional existence in the Belgian second tier. Kuyt and his men are at the bottom of the league, with 18 points from 33 matches. De Mannekes will play three more times in the relegation group and will then be able to focus on the next season.

While Kuyt’s contract is expiring, there is an option in the Dutchman’s contract for an extension, according to Belgian media.
