Fiorentina’s newest signing, Nicolás Valentini, has shared insights into his decision to join the Serie A club, detailing the factors that led him to the Tuscan side.
The Argentine defender, who arrived from Boca Juniors, revealed during his unveiling that he had been on Roma’s radar earlier in the summer, under the management of Daniele De Rossi.
Speaking at a press conference, Valentini addressed the situation at Boca and his eventual move to Italy. “I trained with the team, but I wasn’t playing due to all the issues happening at Boca. Now, I’m very happy to be here,” he said.
Valentini also spoke about his connection with De Rossi and the conversations he had with Roma. “I’m friends with De Rossi, and I spoke with him and Roma in the summer,” he shared.
Ultimately, it was Fiorentina’s sporting director Daniele Pradè who convinced him. “I really liked what Pradè had to say when he called me. Then I saw this sports center, and I liked it a lot. I’m happy to be here,” Valentini concluded.
The 23 year-old, who joins La Viola on a free transfer, has penned a four and a half year contract thru June 2029.
