Everton are on the verge of completing their first signing of the January transfer window.
Flamengo midfielder Carlos Alcaraz is set to join the Toffees on loan with an option to buy included in the deal.
This is according to Sky Sports News who report that Alcaraz is undergoing a medical at Everton today.
The 22-year-old will return to the Premier League, having previously had a stint at Southampton.
He made 48 appearances across all competitions for the Saints, scoring eight goals in the process.
He was loaned out to Juventus before an €18 million move to Flamengo in the summer of 2024.
Alcaraz is now on the move again, with Everton poised to acquire his services.
The Merseyside outfit are looking to add some quality players before the transfer deadline in a bid to stay in the Premier League.
The Blues are also working on a deal to sign Rennes left-back Adrien Truffert, as per journalist Alan Nixon.
They want to bring in competition for Vitali Mykolenko, and believe the 23-year-old to be an ideal option.
Truffert is an academy product of Rennes and has played in 176 matches for the Red and Blacks.
According to Alex Crook, Everton could also consider a late swoop for Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill.
David Moyes’ side have shown an interest in the 29-year-old, who will be out of contract in the summer. But they face competition from Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers who are also reportedly keen on the player.
