Éverton Soares believes he is closing in on his top level following his move to Flamengo.
The Grêmio academy graduate, who joined the Reubro-Negro from Benfica in August, came off the bench for the last 24 minutes of Saturday’s 4-1 win over Bragantino.
“It’s hard, isn’t it? I think I’m close, but not yet, I’m not at my ideal, that’s clear,” the 26-year-old said afterwards.
“When I was able to play in Brazil, everyone saw my characteristics. I had two very difficult seasons (at Benfica), both collectively and individually.
“Of course, you lose confidence a little, but confidence for the athlete is everything, even more so with dribbling characteristics.
“But, as I said, with each game, each training session, I try to keep the rhythm, the best level possible, to be prepared and 100% during the year.”
Soares will hope to get more minutes under his belt when the Mengão host Internacional in the Brasileirão on Thursday.
