Flamengo have reportedly agreed to sell veteran midfielder Willian Arão to Turkish side Fenerbahçe.

Several outlets in Brazil are claiming that the deal will be completed after Sunday’s Brasileirão clash with Corinthians, who were the player’s first senior club.

That will give the 30-year-old the opportunity to bid farewell to fans and team-mates before jetting out to link up with former Rubro-Negro manager Jorge Jesus.

Fenerbahçe will reportedly pay €3m for Arão over three instalments.

Since joining the Mengão in 2016, São Paulo native Arão has become a club legend having made 377 appearances, scored 35 goals and won 10 titles.

He a key member of the 2019/20 team under Jesus who won five trophies, including the Brasileirão and Copa Libertadores.

The move to Istanbul will give him the opportunity to play in the Uefa Champions League, should Fenerbahçe navigate the qualifying rounds of the competition.

They face Dynamo Kiev in the first leg of the second round of qualifying on 20 July.
