On Tuesday, Flamengo were given one of the best possible match-ups when they were drawn against Serie D side ABC in the Copa do Brasil round-of-16.
ABC advanced past Chapecoense in the third round after pulling off a stunning 3-0 victory in the second leg to overcome their 3-1 first-leg defeat.
ABC also took care of one of Flamengo’s rivals in the second round, defeating Botafogo on penalties.
Flamengo have had enormous success against their fourth-division opponents, earning seven victories and a draw in eight total confrontations, scoring 17 goals while allowing only two.
The last time these two sides got together was also in the Copa do Brasil in 2006, when Flamengo scored a 1-0 win in Natal before demolishing their opponents 4-0 at the Maracanã.
The first leg will take place at the Maracanã on July 28th before they head to Natal for the second leg on August 4th.
