Flamengo’s vice-president for football Marcos Braz has expressed sympathy with Deportes Tolima after the sides were drawn together in the Copa Libertadores.
The round of 16 draw took place on Friday, with the Colombian side being pitted against the Brazilian giants.
Reacting to the prospective fixture, Braz made no effort to downplay the Rubro-Negro’s superiority.
“It’s too bad to catch Flamengo too, I can say that for sure. It’s quarry,” he told Rádio Globo CBN.
“This draw wasn’t too bad. If you analyse the left side, Palmeiras and Atlético-MG will already face each other (if they go through to the quarter-finals).
“I think it was balanced, there wasn’t a team with a more relaxed side. It may be in the round of 16 with a more relaxed opponent, but that makes it difficult in the subsequent stages.”
The first leg against Tolima is likely to take place in Ibagué on 29 June.
