Flamengo attacker Bruno Henrique could face a lengthy ban during next year’s Campeonato Carioca after he was charged in relation to his dismissal in this season’s final.
Flamengo drew 1-1 with Fluminense in the second leg of the Carioca decider at the Maracanã, which saw them lose the tie 3-1 on aggregate.
Tempers flared in the closing stages, with both Henrique and Flu striker Fred seeing red for their part in a melee.
Both are accused of pushing an opponent off the ball. Being found guilty of that offence would lead to a ban of between one and three games.
However Henrique faces another charge of “taking any conduct contrary to discipline or sports ethics not typified by the other rules”. This carries a maximum punishment of a six-game ban.
The case for both players will be heard next Wednesday.
Flamengo have also been charged with “throwing objects on the field or place of the sporting event”, which carries a fine of up to R$100,000 (€20,000).
