According to Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Jérémy Ménez, who played for América during the 2018-19 season, is close to signing for Hamrun Spartans, who ply their trade in the Maltese third division.

Ménez had a torrid time with the Eagles, scoring five goals in 18 appearances in a spell in Liga MX marred with injury problems and notorious communication issues with then-coach Miguel Herrera.

The 34-year old former French international had an illustrious career before his time with the Azulcremas, playing for Roma, PSG and AC Milan.

Since his departure, things haven’t improved for Ménez, who bounced from Ligue 2 side Paris FC to Serie B team Reggina and is now looking at a stint in Malta’s third division where he’ll finish the season on loan.
